About Us
Started March 2005, The Roughneck Riot hailed as one of Warringtons most energetic, raucous and messy punk bands with a sound that could turn holy water to piss. Since these early days, the band has progressed from the 4 piece bunch of teenage guys to the 6 piece orchestra of twisted celtic punk rockers you see today!! Taking influences from bands such as The Mahones, The Pogues, The Clash, Johnny Cash and The Urban Voodoo Machine, the bands sound has evolved into the whiskey soaked, guinness fueled, neighbour disturbing collection of songs that you cant help but party to!!
The crew consists of Matty Humphries (Singer/Song writer/ Mandolin/ Acoustic Guitar), Ryan Taylor (Bass/Vocals), Simon Cowley (Drums) and the newest members to the squad: Jade Franklin (Accordion), Caitlin Costello (Banjo/Vocals) and Chris Green (Lead Gutiar/ Vocals). The Band are happy throughout the years to have played gigs across the UK and made a lot of friends in the process, played festivals such as STRUMMERCAMP (the only festival that matters) and shared stages with bands such as Billy Bragg, The Damned, The Beat, Sham 69, Neck, Goldblade, The Men They Couldnt Hang, and more recently, and most importantly, their biggest musical influences and damn good friends THE MAHONES, as Matty has also joined The Mahones on their 2009 european tours to play mandolin for them, and are now planning a Roughneck Riot summer euro tour!!
After a handful of DIY demos, and the odd live recording here n there, The very first Roughneck Riot record 'Drain The Bar', is finally in the making, featuring The Mahones' Irish-Punk Legend of a front man FINNY McCONNELL on electric Guitar!! The record will be available at gigs from the band, along with tshirts and posters, and soon available online!!
DRAIN THE BAR!!
